The Roving Radish
The Roving Radish is a government-supported, community-driven meal kit program offering seasonal menus, flexible pricing, and donation options. As the program expanded, the team needed more efficient tools to manage weekly ordering, track coupon and subsidy usage, and better align donation features with internal processes. We replatformed The Roving Radish to Shopify with a custom theme delivering customer-facing and administrative improvements to help them handle complexity without adding overhead.


Meal Kit Experience & Custom Admin Tools
As the Roving Radish program grew, managing weekly ordering became increasingly complex. Customers needed a clearer way to navigate rotating menus, select the right pickup location, and participate in the “Rove It Forward” donation option without confusion during checkout. Internally, the team lacked tools to easily track coupon usage, subsidy levels, and product fulfillment tied to specific weeks. The existing setup created manual overhead and limited visibility—making it harder to support growth while ensuring delivery accuracy.
We delivered targeted improvements across both the customer experience and administrative systems. The weekly ordering flow was restructured to guide customers through a seamless process: choose a meal kit, select a pickup location, and proceed to checkout. Customers can now select or update their preferred pickup location directly on the product page—before adding a kit to the cart—eliminating the need to backtrack or navigate through multiple screens. The “Rove It Forward” donation option was also moved to the product page, allowing customers to opt in with each meal kit purchased—making the experience more intuitive and consistent.
On the operational side, we created the Order Lookup interface with advanced filters for coupon codes, pickup locations, product codes, and subsidy types. Reporting capabilities were upgraded to tie financial data directly to weekly product codes (e.g., wk5mk), enabling staff to see exactly what each customer paid—or still owes—for that specific week. This has significantly improved delivery preparation, payment reconciliation, and subsidy tracking, giving the team accurate, actionable insights to manage orders across locations and delivery dates.
